How do you use the Wordle Helper?
Using the helper takes less than a minute. It mirrors exactly what you see on your Wordle board: green tiles, yellow tiles, and gray tiles. Fill in what you know and the tool does the rest.
- Correct row: type letters you're sure about into their exact positions. If your first guess gave you a green S in position 1, put S in the first box of the Correct row.
- Misplaced row: type letters that are in the word but not in that position. If A came up yellow in position 3, put A in the third box of the Misplaced row. The helper knows the letter belongs somewhere else.
- Ruled-out box: type all the letters you've ruled out so far, in any order. Gray tiles from every guess go here.
- Hit Find words. Every matching word appears below, instantly, with a count of how many possibilities remain.
A small tip: enter your clues after two or three guesses rather than after one. With only a single guess of gray letters, thousands of words still fit and the list won't help much. Two or three rounds of clues usually narrows things down to a handful of real candidates.
How does the Wordle Helper filter words?
Behind the button, the helper checks your clues against a list of nearly 15,000 valid five-letter English words, the same pool Wordle draws from. It keeps only the words that satisfy every clue at once: correct letters in their exact spots, misplaced letters present but in different spots, and ruled-out letters absent.
The part most solvers get wrong is duplicate letters. Say you guessed SPEED and the first E came up green while the second E came up gray. A naive filter would either demand two E's or ban E entirely, and both are wrong. Our helper counts letters properly: it knows the word contains at least one E, exactly in that green position, and that a second E is ruled out. That duplicate-safe counting is the main reason we built our own tool instead of using a basic filter.
How can you get better results from the Wordle Helper?
You get better results by updating the helper after every guess, entering yellows in their Misplaced positions, and never skipping your gray letters. Six habits make the shortlist dramatically sharper:
- Update after every guess. The helper gets dramatically more useful as clues pile up. Re-run it after each new guess instead of guessing blind from the first shortlist.
- Double-check yellow placements. The most common input error is putting a yellow letter in the position where it appeared yellow. Remember: yellow means "in the word, but NOT here," so the letter goes in that position's Misplaced box.
- Don't forget ruled-out letters. Gray tiles are clues too. Skipping them leaves hundreds of extra words in your results.
- Read the count, not just the list. If 40 words still fit, your next guess should be a "probe" word that tests several new letters at once rather than one of the 40. If only 2 or 3 fit, pick between them directly.
- Watch for repeated letters. When few words remain and none look right, the answer often has a double letter (like ALLOT or KNOLL). The helper handles these correctly, so trust the list.
- Use it to learn, not just to win. After the helper narrows things down, ask yourself why those words survived. You'll start noticing letter patterns that make your unaided guesses sharper over time.
What mistakes should you avoid with a Wordle solver?
The four mistakes below cause nearly every bad result: mixing up the green and yellow rows, double-listing a letter, formatting the ruled-out box wrong, or quitting when the list is long. Dodge these and the tool stays trustworthy:
- Mixing up green and yellow rows. Green means exact position; yellow means wrong position. Swapping them gives you an empty or nonsense result list.
- Entering a letter as both misplaced and ruled out. If a letter is yellow anywhere, it is in the word, so it does not belong in the ruled-out box even if it also appeared gray in another guess. Wordle only grays a duplicate when the word has fewer copies than you guessed.
- Typing ruled-out letters with spaces or commas. The box wants plain letters only, like RSTLNE.
- Giving up when the list is long. A long list after guess two is normal. It means you need one more information-rich guess, not that the tool failed.
Should you use a solver or hints?
That depends on what kind of win you want. The helper gives you the full shortlist, which is perfect when you're protecting a long streak and just need to avoid a careless loss. Hints give you a nudge and let you keep the "I solved it myself" feeling. Many players do both: check the hints first for the satisfaction, and keep the helper in reserve for the days when the streak is on the line. Neither choice is wrong. It's your game.
Wordle Helper FAQs
How does the Wordle Helper work?
Type your known letters into the correct, misplaced, and wrong-letter boxes, then hit Find words. The helper filters nearly 15,000 valid five-letter words down to the ones that fit your clues, handling tricky duplicate letters correctly. Use it mid-game when you're genuinely stuck, not as a first resort. The daily hints are more fun.
Is using a Wordle helper cheating?
That's between you and your streak. Most players reach for a helper only when they're truly stuck, to protect a long run rather than skip the puzzle entirely. We built ours for exactly those moments, and our daily hints page is there if you'd rather have a gentle nudge than the full answer.
Does it handle duplicate letters?
Yes. If a letter shows up twice in your clues (say a correct E and a ruled-out E), the helper counts it properly instead of wrongly ruling the word out. This is where simpler solvers trip up, and it's the main reason we built our own instead of using a basic filter.
How many words does the Wordle Helper know?
Nearly 15,000 valid five-letter English words, the same pool Wordle itself draws from. That includes every possible answer plus the extra allowed guesses Wordle accepts. If a word is a legal Wordle guess, the helper knows it.
Why do I get zero results?
Almost always an input mistake. The usual culprits: a yellow letter typed into the Correct row, a letter entered as both misplaced and ruled out, or a typo in the ruled-out box. Clear the form and re-enter your clues slowly, one guess at a time, and the results will come back.
Can the helper guarantee I solve today's Wordle?
It guarantees you see every word that still fits your clues, but you still have to pick the right one when several remain. When you're down to two or three candidates, think about which guess separates them best. A probe word that tests the differing letters is often smarter than guessing a candidate directly.
Does the Wordle Helper work on mobile?
Yes. The tool is built mobile-first: the letter tiles are thumb-sized, the keyboard on your phone works with the inputs, and the results list scrolls cleanly on small screens. Everything runs in your browser, so there's nothing to install and no signup.
